Many of you will remember that I lost my dear mother, Norma Babcock, last February to congestive heart failure. We buried her on Valentine's Day, which is bittersweet because she was such an incredible sweetheart. I miss her so much and I'm sure many of you can relate, either to losing your mom or someone else to heart failure/disease. Last year you might recall that I made a series of vintage heart locket necklaces in honour of my mom. I found that to be great therapy. The symbolism is so great and with February being Heart & Stroke Month, I have decided to make this an annual event. Only this year, I've started a Sweethearts for Heart & Stroke Month album/series with pieces that incorporate a heart somewhere in the design. This year I am going to donate a portion of the proceeds from this album to the Heart & Stroke Foundation. There are only a few items in this album right now, but I will be adding more pieces throughout the month. So keep checking back, but if you see something you like, remember that they are one-of-a-kind, so don't wait and hope it's still there later or you may end up disappointed. There is always a link beneath the picture that will take you to the website for a detailed description as well as the zoom feature so you can get a better look.

This necklace has seen royalty, celebrities and red carpets. It had it's first debut on the Red Carpet for the 2010 Golden Globe Awards when it was worn by Lisa Freitas, photographed here with Leonardo DeCaprio. Then it donned the neck of highly acclaimed Canadian singer, songwriter, and classical pianist Chantal Kreviazuk. As if that's not glamorous enough, Chantal was performing for the Queen of England at the time.

A very regal necklace, it is a single strand of high quality vintage glass pearls, stunningly adorned with sparkling vintage Swarovski rhinestones in the Art Deco design. The owner of this stunning necklace will receive photographs to commemorate the journey of this already famous heirloom piece.

THIS NECKLACE HAS BEEN DONATED TO THE CANADIAN CANCER SOCIETY MANITOBA CHAPTER TO BE AUCTIONED ON OCTOBER 16/2010.
